Update 11/09/2024:

Joanne completed her run in 1 hour 43 minutes 9 seconds, beating her target of 1 hour 45 minutes.

Joanne also had a target to raise £500 for RainbowsGB, a target she also smashed, her current total raised is £1,350.00

My Story

I am running this year’s Great North Run on 8th September 2024. This will mark 20 years since I last ran the Great North Run and I’m determined to beat the time that I ran back then even though I am 20 years older. This year I have set myself 2 targets.

The first is to complete the half marathon in 1 hour 45 minutes.

The second is to raise £500 for RainbowsGB, a wonderful charity that raises awareness of the impact of bereavement and loss on children and young people. The charity offers a range of services to support individuals who have experienced a significant loss through death, relationship breakdown or other adverse childhood experience (ACE).

Rainbows trains school staff to run tried and tested high quality support programmes which improve the self esteem, mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people who have suffered from any form of trauma in their young lives.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to reaching this target of £500. Your donation will go directly to the charity and will be used to provide essential services and support for these children.
