Our Background.

The roots of Rainbows Bereavement Support GB date back to Chicago in 1983. Suzy Yehl Marta, a divorced mother with three young children, founded the Rainbows programme following her own divorce to address the apparent absence of any organised support groups for grieving children. Her intention was to ensure that other families would not suffer as her family did through the trauma of her own divorce.

Fully adapted programmes and training covering all aspects of bereavement and loss were developed in Great Britain and introduced in 1992.  As a result of the impact of our training and our revised and up dated programmes, over 100,000 children and young people now have access to support in over 1400 schools.
