The Trustees of Rainbows GB are delighted to announce the appointment of two new Patrons of the Charity:

Frank McDermott and Sue McDermott OBE.

Frank has been a very active member of the Rainbows GB family since 1995 and has been a Trustee of Rainbows GB since 2002, becoming Chair of the Trustees in 2011.

Frank has now taken well-earned retirement from his Trustee role, but as a Patron of Rainbows GB will no doubt continue to support the Charity in other imaginative ways.

Frank’s dedication and contribution to Rainbows GB cannot be overstated, he has been a driving force in building the Charity over the years and we will miss him as a Trustee but look forward to welcoming his contribution as a Patron.

Sue, former National Director of Rainbows, has also now retired from her role of Trustee and Non-Executive Director, but as a Patron will still be a great source of wisdom and knowledge for the future.

Sue was awarded an OBE in 2017 “for a lifetime of service to education and particularly for her outstanding impact in supporting children and young people grieving a significant and often devastating loss in their lives”. Within Rainbows, Sue has been active for over 26 years as Facilitator and Coordinator in three schools, a Registered Director/Trainer and as National Director. She has trained hundreds of schools in loss and bereavement.

The Trustees want to register their immense thanks to Sue and Frank for all their incredible contribution to the Charity over so many years and wish them well in their retirement and thank them for their continuing support as Patrons of Rainbows GB.

We would also like to announce the appointment of our new Chair of Trustees, Jan O’Neill. Jan first joined the Board of Trustees of RainbowsGB in November 2016 and we are delighted Jan has accepted the position of Chair of Trustees from 25th March 2020.
